PaperCon prep and products

August last year was my prep time for PaperCon that was held last September 9. I wanted to create lots of new products because it was PaperCon. It was a big deal for me to return to this event as a solo artist. So I made more paper products – specifically notepads, bookmarks, and new stickers.

First of all the peony above, I had no idea where to put in my older posts so I put it here. This was one of the newer peony artworks that I did for my new set of stickers – 3″x 3″ sized sticker samplers! I wanted a sticker sheet that’s a midrange price, for those who doesn’t want an individual sticker but doesn’t want to spend on the bigger sticker sheet. I made 5 designs of these – rose, peony, hydrangea, orchid, and sunflower.

I had the idea of making bookmarks during Patrons of the Arts – where I saw that some art prints are laminated to achieve a glossy effect. So I thought, maybe I should do bookmarks? These did really well during my conventions last year – but I won’t restock them again this year because I don’t really have space for them in my table.

Now, notepads! It’s PaperCon, notepads are paper, so they should probably sell like hotcakes right? Well, not really! With their high production cost and bulkiness, I felt that I probably shouldn’t reproduce them anymore. It was a fun experience though!

Now my sticker sheets, my bread and butter during conventions. I added a new design- the sunflowers sticker sheet so they would finally total to 10 designs. I’m pretty proud of this set! Looking back now, I’m pretty impressed with the products I’ve produced just for this con. Next up will be the event itself!

StickerCon MNL 2022

Our 4th StickerCon MNL experience as January Makers PH. It feels familiar and new at the same time. StickerCon MNL 2022 had a new venue – White Space Manila. We had a member shuffle – Monique opt out this time. Aira (@airadenisee) was invited to our group. There were restrictions in how many people were allowed behind the table due to covid protocols of the venue. There’s no custom pin for artist ids this year.

This is our first time to table with StickerCon MNL on October. It is the organizer’s favorite event of the year, and we were encouraged to come in costume. I bought bunny and cat ears for our group! Sadly, Hannah and Jean weren’t able to attend that day, so it was just 4 of us. We had a random draw on who were our designated sellers that day – Aira and Shine (@tingeofshine) were our hardworking sellers! Clair (@claircolors) was our seller in front who was assisting interested customers.

Thankful to my officemates and friends who came by – Abie, DJ, Jerome, Ate Jen, etc. They bought some of our group’s stickers! As for me, even if I had no cash in hand that day, I managed to buy stickers. In the surprise of no one, every store had QR code payment options (Gcash, Paymaya, Paypal, even BDO pay). This was pretty useful since some people people cashless payments nowadays. It was a good thing that we offered this as well!

My humble set-up. I bought acrylic trays from Daiso for my individual stickers. I also re-used my acrylic display stand for my other stuff. I should also mention that we loved that there’s a food and drink concessionaire outside. The ones they selected had really good food!

Monique also stopped by StickerCon! I would like to congratulate her as she had her first pottery exhibit last November. We weren’t able to visit sadly due to conflicting schedules.

Thankful for the chance to do this once more. â™Ĩ

Flexing my hard work here! I’m pretty proud of my new stickers!

Above: My circle stickers. Hand cut around 400+ pieces. There used to be 7 designs, I removed 1 because I wasn’t happy with it anymore. But I’m really happy with the newer ones!

Below: My rectangle stickers. They weren’t as popular as the other ones. But I’m pretty satisfied with them as well. Thinking that these would go well with paper frames for journaling?

Above: The solo stickers that are hand cut. 5 of them are in glossy laminate while the rest are in pearl laminate. I’m pretty happy with this collection as well! Its a mix of early works and newer ones.

Below: My sticker sheets! One of my best sellers during StickerCon. I want to make more in the future.

And finally, my washi tapes! I wanted an orchid one and a seafood one. One design is what I’m known for, and one design is “because I want to”. You gotta have a balance of both in order to be happy. â™Ĩ

And that’s it! Next up is my StickerCon 2022 post.

StickerCon 2020 Haul

It’s time for the haul post! I had a bit of time to explore the venue since we took turns manning our booth.

Can I just say that uploading photos in WordPress is a bit of a bitch right now? Whenever I publish a post, the image captions get jumbled up and when I try to edit them, the text separates from the image caption setting. Ugh.

Calligraphy sticker sheet and Planner stickers by claircolors, But first coffee by MNQ Illustration, and Fashionable girls by HMB_urger.

Caution and Tita sticker from ella_lama, The artist sticker from louisermos

Sunflower strip, white flowers by alfajone, Penguin by Studio Dondon, Cat from meowproject, Proud Plant parent, moon, and rose by Kara Leonardia, Goodbye money by _katepaints

Some last minute promotions lol.

Super happy with our table set-up. Shine bought a pink furry throw that we could use on our table. The table cloth usually used for cons is in black. The throw completes our girly aesthetic HAHA.

Sticker sheets by Clair, Fashion stickers by Hannah, Skyscapes sticker by Shine. â™Ĩ

On the left side of our table were Clair and Hannah’s individual stickers. â™Ĩ

More of Hannah’s animal stickers on our mesh wire display.

Some of Hannah’s fashion stickers.

Hannah’s post cards. â™Ĩ

Monique’s best sellers – sticker sheets!

Hello to my post card collection. â™Ĩ

And my new flower sheets!

How will I describe our experience here? It was tiring yet amazing, crazy fun, and super supportive! The line outside was super long the whole day. We are grateful to everyone who attended and supported all the artists in this event. â™Ĩ Thank you again to the organizers for another successful event. To our friends who visited, promoted, and supported our group. To table mates who understand the craziness of it all. I hope there will be a 4th one after this pandemic. But for now, let’s all STAY SAFE!

StickerCon 2020 Prep

To be accepted in the most coveted event of year for the third time has a bit of pressure. I knew I needed to create something new for the con. I’ve already created stock for Feb Komiket and had a lot left over. So the only problem was making something new to entice people to attend Stickercon and visit our booth.

My flower sticks look so pretty in a tray. â™Ĩ

The delivery box.

I had my stickers and postcards delivered to my office. Pictured above was the box that it came in. My officemates were also excited in helping me cut again this time HAHA. I gave them Coco milk tea as “salary”. Thank you so much!

Also bought some organizers this time. â™Ĩ

Sorting time!

I also realized that putting everything in a plastic envelope ruined some of my stickers. So I had to buy some plastic and acrylic organizers so I could sort and pack them safely. I bought these from Japan Home Center.

For the new stickers, I thought of bringing back my old sets but with new art and in kiss cut. The cut-it-yourself sticker pack didn’t last long, haha. I made and compiled artworks for Sunny (Sunflower, Rainy (Hydrangea), and Peony (Previously named Romantic) sets.

Some studies for Rainy set. I didn’t get to use every painting that I did.

More hydrangea studies.

And lots more!

This was a large painting that I definitely had to include.

An attempt at loose lotus painting. Didn’t liked it.

Another painting. Didn’t make the cut.

I made a lot of peonies. But I only chose two from this page.

Final sticker sets. â™Ĩ I printed these sets the night before Stickercon. Whew!

Next up would be the event proper post. I hope I  could write about it soon.â™Ĩ

Art Trade with Argie

Homhayghad. This blog’s been hibernating for a while. I had some personal issues that made me unmotivated from doing my usual routine. The issues are not yet addressed, but I’m fighting it! â™Ĩ

Anyway! During my hibernation, I still saved my photos into folders for future blog posts. One of those is an art trade with a friend of mine on Instagram: Argie_Mae! She was one of my first IG friends. I really love her ink drawings, one glance at her works and you know that it’s her style. When I asked for an art trade last 2018, I was so happy that she accepted! This one took a while since we were both busy with work, but we finally pushed through with sending each other our works this 2019. And it was worth the wait!

Her original art! I love these soooo much! â™Ĩ

More original art, and stickers! â™Ĩ

I usually joke online that she’s my washi tape fairy god mother. And sineryoso na niya on this trade OMG. â™Ĩ

Bigla ako nahiya sa sinend ko: just my original watercolor painting and some stickers. I need to send my new stickers to her soon! This was the painting that I sent to her:

Stickercon Haul

For this year’s Stickercon, I was the designated errand girl for our group. This means that I’m the one outside our table fixing our products, talking to potential customers, buying drinks/food for the group, and exchanging barya from our other friends HAHAHA. This also meant that I had more freedom to roam around to buy stuff from the rest of the 200 exhibitors.

Below is my humble haul from StickerconMNL2019. â™Ĩ

Coffee Lovers United, Hello I’m Busy, Powered by Pizza sticker and Pin, So many things so little cash by our friend Ella Lama | Watercolor set, Country tags, stamp by Marie Lama | Gold foil stickers by Paola Koala

Top stickers by Renka | Go away I’m … by Ella Lama | Lettering stickers and free flower postcard by Clair colors | Rug by Hannah HAHAHA

Honestly this Shih Tzu sticker is the best buy for the day. â™Ĩ

Museum stickers by Louise | Pretty girl postcard and stickers by Bemzenit | Cat stickers by The Offbeat Cat

And that’s my haul! I could’ve bought more if I had the time. But table priorities first! â™Ĩ I hope we could join the next Stickercon as well! â™Ĩ

Stickercon MNL 2019

It’s finally time for the main event – Stickercon MNL 2019! It was held at Bayanihan Center last March 16, 2019. We’re so happy that our group was accepted again for the second time! This time, we’re prepared:

Circle Stickers â™Ĩ I’m so proud of the quality & results!

Monique’s part of the table. Her best selling 90s candies, Chichirya set, and Biscuit sets are lined up front. She also made new sticker packs.

Close up of her packs. â™Ĩ 10 pcs of glossy stickers per pack.

Her new sticker packs: the Kakanin set and Handaan set. â™Ĩ

Hannah’s side with our logo. â™Ĩ

She made a bunch of new fashion girls. â™Ĩ

And new dog breed sticker packs. â™Ĩ

And finally, seamountainco! She brought her new handmade watercolor set to the event and some postcards. But what was surprising is…

Her new sticker packs! And look at the packaging! â™Ĩ I love it!

It was another fun filled day. The place was jam packed! It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get to roam around the venue as much. We only got to buy stickers from our friends huhuhu. But we’re happy with our income HAHAHA. Thank you so much for everyone who visited and bought from our booth!
